Abstract: |
Background, aim, and scope The solar spectrum has an important influence on ecology and other aspects, the measurements of solar spectrum in Tibet is of special significance for Tibet as it is one of the regions with the highest solar radiation energy. Materials and methods We made periodic measurements for solar spectrums at four sites (Lhasa, Nyingchi, Ngari, Tingri) in Tibet during 2016—2017, by using the RAMSES-ACC-UV/VIS solar spectrometers (280—950 nm) made by TriOS company of Germany. Ground spectral intensities, spectral characteristics and temporal variation of the pectrums for the four sites were preliminary studied. Results The highest spectral intensity appeared at 476.6 nm wavelength, with peak value of 2.05 W ∙ m−2 ∙ nm−1 in Lhasa at local noon time on July 21, 2017 (cloudless day). Meanwhile, made comparisons for the local noon spectral characteristics of clear days between Lhasa and Tingri, as well as Lhasa and Nyingchi. The spectral intensities in Tingri are higher than that of Lhasa; the spectral intensities in Lhasa are higher than that of Nyingchi. The spectral curves in Tingri are flighty smoother than that of Lhasa; the spectral curves in Lhasa are smoother than that of Nyingchi. Discussion We did research on the characteristics of the solar spectrum in the Tibetan Plateau for the first time based on the preliminary observation and study of the solar spectrum in four regions of Tibet. The research Indicated that the solar spectral curves in Tibet were smoother than that of in the low altitude. It means that the greenhouse gases (water vapor, ozone, carbon dioxide, etc.) in the atmosphere of the Tibetan Plateau are relatively lower than that of in low altitude. The observation results also indicated that the overall intensity of the solar spectrum in Tibet are relatively higher than that of in the low altitude, this is due to the high altitude, thin or rare air over the Tibetan Plateau. Conclusions The solar spectrum reaches maximum value at 476.6 nm wavelength, absorption of the solar spectrum by O2 and H2O in the atmosphere can be estimated by comparing the smoothness of the solar spectral curves. Recommendations and perspectives Further systematic measurements of the solar spectrum in Tibet is needed to provide more field data for there is little measurements on the solar spectrum data in Tibet. |
